Is now the right time to be using an Executive Search Consultancy?

Covid-19 and the impact it has caused business globally has inevitably meant that huge numbers of good people have found themselves looking for a new role.  I have friends and family going through the process of finding their next role and its tough to see good people having to pick themselves up and go again after in many cases years of loyal service and hard work.

Hiring companies may see this is an ideal opportunity to pick from an abnormally swollen candidate pool and in some cases, this may be true.  Personally I am working with a number of contacts to help them move into the next role, having found themselves victims of cutbacks.

So, if there are more available people than in normal circumstances actively seeking work, why would you appoint an executive search consultancy such as The Clay Partnership, in association with Nevard Roland to fill your vacancies?

There are 3 reasons:

  1. When a job is advertised on LinkedIn or similar, it naturally attracts a number of applicants that would normally be reviewed and whittled down to a few that best match the role, then the interview process would begin.  One of the effects of Covid-19 is that we are seeing in some cases hundreds of applicants for a single role, all of which deserve to be fairly reviewed and appraised in the process of drawing up a shortlist.
  2. A job Advert has to assume that all of the best candidates are looking at that particular job board, there is normally very little outbound reach to find good candidates, meaning you may be missing a large chunk of the most suitable candidates, just because they didn’t happen to look at the right website, at the right time, using the right search parameters.
  3. There are going to be roles where it’s difficult to find the right candidate from those actively looking.  In the current climate its going to be tough to attract someone and persuade them  to leave a secure job and take what may be perceived as a career risk.

A good executive search consultancy will spend their time, not yours, giving fair appraisal to all of the many applicants that have applied for a job, leaving you to do what you are good at – managing your business through what is an already difficult time, without having to trawl through perhaps hundreds of applications.

Most of work we do at The Clay Partnership when working with Nevard Roland Executive Search, is to first work with you to “sculpt the perfect candidate from clay” then reach deep into the market, looking at the people that are available and the people that are not actively looking for a new role, to ensure that we examine every corner of the market for that perfect candidate.

Finally, should that perfect candidate already be in a role and they are uneasy about moving, we can help them to assess the situation and decide whether its right for them or not.  We can do this because we have walked the walk.  As a team, we have professional backgrounds in senior roles within the kinds of companies we now recruit for; we have real life experience or exposure to the roles to which we are assigned.  We have faced that agonizing decision to stick or twist when a job opportunity has come from out the blue and we can speak with honesty and from experience about our choices and how they have affected our career.

Get in touch to see how we can help you to secure the best candidates for your vacancies, with pace, discretion and value adding results.

As with all of the work we do at The Clay Partnership, this is not complicated, it should be simple, we work in the background, with our customers to make them the heroes, not us.
